I don't really consider soundtracks to be albums.

You're right. Purple Rain, Superfly, American Gangster, totally not albums.

Obviously, that is different, as they were songs written and put together for a film and by one artist / band. However, most of the songs from Once had already been released on Glen Hansard's Swell Season album or by The Frames. And the I'm Not There soundtrack is a compilation of Bob Dylan covers, not really an album.

I knew you were going to say something, and I had Purple Rain already in my head as an example.

And just so you know, i don't consider Fiery Furnaces release albums.
